1 Number of fast bowlers in England's playing XI for the first Test against India in Hyderabad. Ben Stokes will not bowl in the match as he continues his recovery from a knee operation, leaving Mark Wood as the lone pace-bowling option for England.
This will be the first instance of England going into a men's Test with just one seamer (excluding the cases involving bowlers who bowled both pace and spin). Only once before, England used just one seamer in a men's Test - against Australia at Old Trafford in 1888. England used only three bowlers in that game - spinners Bobby Peel and Johnny Briggs, who took 14 wickets between them, and seamer George Lohmann. Billy Barnes, also a seamer, was part of the XI but wasn't required to bowl.
2015 The last instance of Wood opening the bowling in Test cricket. He shared the new ball with Stuart Broad in three innings during the 2015 Ashes but not once in the 52 innings since.
If Wood doesn't open the bowling in Hyderabad either, it will be the first time since 1902 that England will have two spinners sharing the new ball in the first innings of a men's Test. Len Braund and Colin Blythe did so in Australia's first innings in the 1902 Adelaide Test.
2011 The last time India played a Test without Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane in the playing XI - against West Indies at Eden Gardens
2012 The last instance of England picking two left-arm spinners in their playing XI. Monty Panesar and Samit Patel played three Tests together - against Sri Lanka in Galle and India in Mumbai and Kolkata - that year. For the Hyderabad Test, England have Jack Leach and uncapped Tom Hartley.
492 Combined wickets tally in Test cricket of England's playing XI for Hyderabad, including Stokes' 197. The XI England picked for their previous Test - against Australia at The Oval last July - had 1989 Tests wickets before the game, the highest for any playing XI in the history of Test cricket.
