Aledo's Johnathan Gray, South Grand Prairie's Abraham Hall and Mansfield Legacy's Shelbi Vaughn are up for the 10th annual Gatorade High School Athlete of the Year Awards, which will be handed out tonight.
Gray is a boys finalist after being named the national football player of the year following a record-setting career that included the most touchdowns in high school history.
Hall was named the nation's top boys track and field athlete after winning the 100- and 200-meter dashes at the UIL Class 5A state meet. His season-best times would have challenged for gold medals in the 2012 NCAA outdoor championships.
Vaughn is a girls finalist for being named track and field athlete of the year after breaking the national high school discus record by 8 1/2 feet.
The award ceremony can be seen live on ESPN3 tonight at 8:40 p.m. CT, and the winners will be recognized at Wednesday night's ESPYs ceremony on ESPN.
