Two-time winner Gary Anderson swept into the second round of the World Championships but fellow seed Jelle Klassen fell at the first hurdle.

Third seed Anderson was in imperious form against Jeff Smith -- recording a 3-0 victory and setting up a potential meeting with 30th seed Mark Webster.

Anderson, who lifted the trophy in 2015 and 2016, was in a particularly lethal rhythm in a second set that saw him average 132 and included a 10-dart leg.

Earlier on in the evening, Klassen became the fourth seed to crash out in the first round of this year's tournament as he was outplayed by world no. 48 Jan Dekker, who ousted his fellow Dutchman 3-1.

Other seeds to fall included Mervyn King, who was undone 3-2 by Zoran Lerchbacher, and Benito van de Pas, who lost 3-1 to Steve West.
