Torino maintained their push for European football with a 2-1 victory at Serie A strugglers Atalanta on Saturday.Fabio Quagliarella scored his 11th goal of the campaign to put the Turin outfit ahead in the 20th minute and the visitors doubled their lead before the interval through Kamil Glik.Atalanta reduced the arrears in the 74th minute when Mauricio Pinilla scored but the Bergamo outfit could not find an equaliser.Both teams ended the game with 10 men after Pinilla and Torino substitute Migjen Basha were shown red cards for fighting.With the win, Toro surpassed the 40-point mark and are four points adrift of Fiorentina, who hold the last qualifying spot for the Europa League and play later on Saturday.Atalanta, meanwhile, are in 17th place, just four points clear of the drop zone.The home side, without suspended strikers Alejandro Gomez and German Denis, went into the contest searching for their first win since February 1.They could have taken a third-minute lead but an unmarked Luca Cigarini struck the ball over the bar from 14 yards.Toro scored with their first opportunity when Quagliarella's curled free-kick towards the top right corner of goal beat Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Sportiello.After long-range attempts from Davide Zappacosta and Pinilla were kept out by Toro goalkeeper Daniele Padelli, the visitors struck again in the 39th minute.Omar El Kaddouri set up Glik in the box and his right-footed shot from six yards went past a helpless Sportiello.Toro continued to press forward after the re-start and had two chances to extend their advantage before the hour mark.However, close-range efforts from Giuseppe Vives and El Kaddouri were kept out by Sportiello.Atalanta pulled one back with 16 minutes remaining.Pinilla timed his shot to perfection, getting behind Moralez's cross and hitting a scissors kick from the area to stun Padelli.The hosts could have equalised three minutes from time but substitute Rolando Bianchi's shot went wide.The referee then handed Basha and Pinilla their marching orders following a heated confrontation between the two players with seconds remaining.ends
