Chievo Verona 0-0 Sassuolo

Chievo halted a four-match losing streak with a goalless draw at home to Sassuolo on Sunday afternoon. In a game played at a slow tempo, the visitors were the better side but could not find a way past Chievo goalkeeper Albano Bizarri, who made three saves to earn his team a valuable point in Verona.Sassuolo, having entered the game on the back of two straight wins, have climbed to 13th place, while Chievo have dropped to the foot of the standings, two points adrift of safety. The hosts went into the match looking for their first win since September 14. To have any success, Chievo needed to improve drastically in attack after scoring just once in their previous four games.Domenico Berardi was first to test Bizarri in the 11th minute with a hard drive which forced the keeper to fully stretch to clear.Bizarri was called on again shortly after to clear Nicola Sansone's bullet strike that was heading towards the far post.In the 28th minute, Chievo threatened. Valter Birsa fed Perparim Hetemaj just outside the box but his right-footed attempt was saved by Sassuolo goalkeeper Andrea Consigli.Sassuolo coach Eusebio Di Francesco made his first substitution before the interval with Luca Antei replacing an injured Emanuele Terranova. The visitors had the best opportunity of the game in the 59th minute when Francesco Magnanelli set up Berardi in the box, only for his left-footed strike to be saved by Bizarri.Chievo looked more dangerous late in the game.In the 72nd minute, Consigli kept out Riccardo Meggiorini's 30-yard effort while shortly after, substitute Nicola Bellomo headed Nicholas Frey's dangerous cross wide as Chievo settled for a point.ends
