Sassuolo 0-0 Sampdoria

Sampdoria keeper Emiliano Viviano came to to rescue as Sassuolo threatened to condemn them to a first defeat of the new Serie A campaign.Viviano pulled off a string of saves to keep the the home side at bay at the MAPEI Stadium - Citta del Tricolore, the last of them seven minutes from time to deny striker Sergio Floccari and secure a 0-0 draw. The visitors started strongly and could have been ahead after just two minutes, only for Sassuolo keeper Andrea Consigli to pull off a double save from midfielder Angelo Palombo and defender Daniele Gastaldello. But opposite number Viviano had to claw away a long-range strike from midfielder Francesco Magnanelli and collect another effort from striker Antonio Floro Flores as the half wore on.Palombo fired just wide from distance for Sampdoria and Saphir Taider shot inches over at the other end as the half-time whistle approached.Clear-cut chances were few and far between after the break, although it was the hosts who created the better of them with Matteo Brighi missing the target from close range and fellow midfielder Sime Vrsajilko only just clearing the bar from 30 yards. However, with time running down, Viviano was called upon twice to preserve both his clean sheet and Sampdoria's unbeaten start to the season. The keeper was not unduly extended as he collected Flores' audacious back-heeled attempt 10 minutes from time, but he needed to be on his toes three minutes later to make a fine block as Floccari prepared to pounce.ends
