AC Milan 1-3 AS Roma
Roma wrapped up their season with a 3-1 win at AC Milan but missed out on second place in Serie A due to Napoli's victory over Frosinone.Extending their fine unbeaten run in the league to 17 games with a 14th win in that sequence, the Giallorossi scored through Mohamed Salah, Stephan El Shaarawy - who is on loan from Milan - and substitute Emerson before Carlos Bacca's consolation for the hosts.Meanwhile, Napoli, staying two points clear of third-placed Roma, cruised to a 4-0 home triumph over relegated Frosinone to clinch automatic qualification to next season's Champions League group stages along with title-winners Juventus.Roma will have to make do with a play-off spot in the competition, while seventh-placed Milan will hope they can claim a Europa League place by winning the Coppa Italia final against Juve next Saturday.Luciano Spalletti's men did not take long to threaten at the San Siro, with a misplaced attempt at a pass from Alex being latched onto by Salah in the 17th minute, only for the Egypt international to roll his shot wide. Two minutes later Salah showed greater accuracy as he put Roma ahead with a composed, slotted finish having run onto a fine pass from Kevin Strootman that caught the Milan backline napping. At the other end, Keisuke Honda's low shot was parried by Wojciech Szczesny, but Roma were soon on the attack again, with Gianluigi Donnarumma saving well to deny Miralem Pjanic and then getting behind an Alessandro Florenzi strike.Honda wasted a decent chance early in the second half when the ball fell kindly to him in the box but he lashed it into the stand.Roma then extended their lead just before the hour mark when El Shaarawy was allowed to break clean through, chest down a great Pjanic through-ball and fire past Donnarumma. The Italy forward's subsequent celebration was notably restrained.Veteran Francesco Totti was then introduced as a substitute and swiftly brought a save out of Donnarumma.Milan managed to apply some pressure, with their substitute Giacomo Bonaventura seeing a looping shot saved by Szczesny, who then made a fine stop to keep out a Honda header. But the hosts conceded again in the 82nd minute when Totti's backheel teed up Salah, his strike was parried by Donnarumma and the rebound was tucked away by Emerson. The Rossoneri replied within four minutes as Bacca met a cross and, when Szczesny fumbled, followed up to prod the ball in.Szczesny also had to push away a Giacomo Bonaventura free-kick in stoppage time, but it was too little too late from the home side.ends
