Denis Suarez double helps Villarreal down Real Sociedad

Denis Suarez's brace secured Villarreal a first away league win since September, ending Real Sociedad's recent post-David Moyes resurgence. The Yellow Submarine were without a goal - never mind a win - in their previous four Primera Division matches on the road, but made amends at the Anoeta.Suarez's strikes towards the end of each half ended that frustrating run - and Sociedad's three-match unbeaten streak in all competitions - as Villarreal ran out 2-0 victors. It was a somewhat fortuitous win after a poor second half, although they had deservedly gone ahead in the 27th minute.Cedric Bakambu capitalised as Sociedad dithered, robbing the ball and feeding Suarez. The hosts inexplicably allowed the former Manchester City midfielder time to take aim from the edge of the box, beating goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli with a low strike.Things could have been different at that point had Alphonse Areola not made an impressive save to deny Bruma after showing impressive pace and skill. The Portuguese had another attempt after Imanol Agirretxe just turned wide from Sergio Canales' fine cross, although things could have been worse as half-time approached.Just three minutes remained of the first period when Jonathan dos Santos raced down the flank and appeared to be taken down in the box by Yuri, although the officials ignored their penalty appeals.Sociedad returned for the second half impressively and Aritz Elustondo saw a header well saved, with Asier Illarramendi fizzing wide from the resulting corner.Agirretxe was proving a nuisance and Canales struck wide as Sociedad pushed for what would have been a deserved leveller. An Elustondo cross-shot almost snuck home and Carlos Vela had an attempt, but there was to be no leveller. In fact, it was only to get worse as Villarreal broke and Suarez capitalised on Rulli being out of his goal. Beating the goalkeeper and dribbling towards the goal, he scored past the sole defender on the line.
