Ricky Van Wolfswinkel leaves Norwich to join Real Betis on loan

Ricky van Wolfswinkel has joined Real Betis on a season-long loan following Norwich's capture of Dieumerci Mbokani.

Betis have an option to buy the Dutch striker on a permanent basis, the Primera Division club said.

Van Wolfswinkel arrived at Carrow Road for £8.5million in July 2013 but managed to score only one Premier League goal and, following the Canaries' relegation, was sent to St Etienne for the 2014-15 campaign.

"Looking forward to start my season at RealBetis," the forward said on Twitter. "New challenge, New opportunities."

Van Wolfswinkel, now 26, scored the winner in Norwich's recent Capital One Cup victory over Rotherham, his only appearance this season, and he has now been allowed to move to promoted Betis as they look to secure a future in the Primera Division.

A statement published on Norwich's official website confirmed the deal which leaves Dynamo Kiev loanee Mbokani, recruited on Monday night, Cameron Jerome and the want-away Lewis Grabban as the Canaries' senior strike options.

Real Betis also reacquired Fiorentina midfielder Joaquin, who had requested a move back to the club where he started his career.

Betis pushed through a deal late on Monday night, re-signing the former Spain international on a three-year contract.
