BARCELONA, Spain -- Barcelona say youth forward Munir El Haddadi has agreed to alter his contract to increase his buyout clause to 35 million euros.
2014 has been a solid year for the 19-year-old El Haddadi, a member of Barcelona's reserve squad. He played well in several games to start the season for the first team scoring a goal in the league opener vs. Elche.
That earned him a call-up for Spain. He made his senior international debut against Macedonia in a European qualifier.
Munir was also a key part of the Under-19 squad that won the inaugural UEFA Youth League, scoring a brilliant goal in the final.
Though his first-team appearances for Barcelona have diminished of late, he is still a regular in training sessions and for the matchday squad.
The increase to Munir's buyout clause is significant because it could keep other top European clubs, like Arsenal, from making a move for the highly-rated Munir.
