Do holiday tournaments predict the future? It can sure seem like it.
After all, Connecticut has won two national titles in the past five seasons on the strength of (or at least subsequent to) two holiday-tournament championships. First came the Huskies' thrilling Maui Invitational title in 2010, and then not long after, UConn captured the banner at the 2K Classic in 2013.
So, yes, if Connecticut marches to yet another holiday-tournament title at the Battle 4 Atlantis this week, I expect many people will want to go ahead and pencil in Kevin Ollie's men for a trip to Houston next April. The Huskies do have that history, after all.
