A team with little size and not much depth lost its best player and began Mountain West play 0-3. Season over, right? Wrong. Derrick Marks settled in as a leader and top scoring option, and Boise State immediately ran off a school-record eight straight conference wins to reverse the tide. Two wins over San Diego State and another six-game run to finish the MWC schedule and the Broncos actually exceeded preseason expectations, sharing the conference crown.
