Source: Rockies reach deal with closer Greg Holland

The Colorado Rockies have reached an agreement on a contract with free-agent closer Greg Holland, pending completion of a physical exam, a baseball source confirmed to ESPN on Wednesday.

Holland, 31, recorded 125 saves and made two American League All-Star teams as the Kansas City Royals' closer from 2013-15.

He underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow in October 2015 and missed all of last season.

Holland joins incumbent closer Adam Ottavino and veterans Jake McGee, Jason Motte, Chad Qualls and Mike Dunn in the Colorado bullpen.

The Rockies had previously signed Dunn and Ian Desmond this offseason to upgrade their roster under first-year manager Bud Black.

According to multiple reports, Holland's deal is for one guaranteed year with a second-year vesting option. The agreement was first reported by Yahoo Sports.
