Brewers put RHP Davies on IL; 3rd starter lost

The Milwaukee Brewers are down another starting pitcher as they look to stay in the National League wild-card hunt.

Right-hander Zach Davies was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday due to back spasms.

The veteran Davies is the third Brewers starting pitcher on the IL, joining Brandon Woodruff (strained oblique) and Jhoulys Chacin (strained lat muscle).

Davies (8-5, 3.74 ERA) was slated to start Wednesday against the Pirates, but manager Craig Counsell said several relievers will pitch against Pittsburgh instead.

In corresponding roster moves Monday, right-handers Jake Faria and Devin Williams were called up from San Antonio, while right-hander Aaron Wilkerson was optioned to the Triple-A team.
