Knicks' RJ Barrett out after spraining ankle vs. Suns

Shooting guard RJ Barrett of the New York Knicks left Thursday night's 121-98 loss to the Phoenix Suns after suffering a sprained right ankle.

X-rays were negative and the rookie will miss at least one week before being reevaluated, the team said Friday.

"It hurts. I never really been hurt before,'' Barrett said Thursday. "I don't remember the last time I missed a game. But we play so many games, it was bound to happen.''

Barrett, who was on crutches after the game, limped off the court and went directly to the locker room after suffering the injury in the third quarter.

He had seven points and two assists before exiting. Barrett is averaging 14.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
