Manly prop Addin Fonua-Blake slapped with $20,000 fine

Manly prop Addin Fonua-Blake has been fined $20,000 and will referee a wheelchair rugby league match as further sanctions for his offensive and abusive language directed at an NRL referee.

Fonau-Blake, who earlier received a two-match ban for his comments directed towards referee Grant Atkins during Manly's 14-12 loss, has now also been found guilty of breaching the NRL's Anti Vilification Code.

In the closing minutes of the match the prop can be heard calling Atkins a "f***ing retard" after a bunker decision denied a potentially match-equalling penalty on fulltime. As a result, he was sent off.

The NRL confirmed on Friday the fine would be donated to Wheelchair Rugby League Australia to buy new wheelchairs.

"He will also donate his time to refereeing during the season to gain a better understanding and respect of disability groups," an NRL statement said.

Fonua-Blake will miss Manly's round nine clash against the Dragons on Sunday and next week's match against the Eels.
