Anthony Sinisuka Ginting's quest to win Olympics gold for Indonesia in the badminton men's singles has come to an end at the hands of defending champion Chen Long.

Despite a valiant effort by Ginting, he was just no match for the 6th-ranked Chen, who produced a masterful performance to claim a 21-16, 21-11 victory over the fifth seed in Sunday's semi-final.

Chen, who won the gold medal at Rio 2016, is now one win away from becoming an Olympic champion for the second Games running, but faces a tough test against Viktor Axelsen in Monday's final.

Meanwhile, Ginting can still finish his campaign with a medal as he takes on surprise semi-finalist Kevin Cordon of Guatemala in the bronze medal match.
