India's Divyansh Singh Panwar won bronze in the 10m air rifle event after shooting a score of 228.1 in the final at the New Delhi World Cup on Saturday.

USA's Lucas Kozeniesky won gold with a score of 249.8, while Hungary's Istvan Peni won silver scoring 249.7.

The ongoing event in Delhi -- the first World Cup of 2021 -- is the Indian team's first official competition since November 2019.

This is Panwar's seventh World Cup medal. He had previously won four gold medals, one silver and one bronze over the 10m air rifle individual and mixed team events.

The 18-year-old, who is currently ranked number one in the world, had secured his Olympic quota after winning a silver medal at the Beijing World Cup in 2019.

Earlier in the event, Panwar had finished sixth in the qualification round with a score of 629.1. Arjun Babuta had finished third with a score of 631.8 to qualify for the final. Babuta, 22, eventually finished fifth in the final after scoring 185.5 points.

In the women's 10m air rifle final, Anjum Moudgil finished fifth after scoring 187.8. Having secured a Tokyo berth after winning a World Championships silver in 2018, the 27-year-old had scored 629.6 to finish second in the qualification round on Friday. USA's Carolynn Mary Tucker and Marie Alison Weisz won gold and silver after scoring 251.5 and 250.4, respectively. Hungary's Eszter Denes won bronze, scoring 230.2.
