Ronnie O'Sullivan: I don't want to stop at seven UK Championship titles

Ronnie O'Sullivan hopes to continue to make snooker history after he claimed a record seventh UK Championship crown in York.

O'Sullivan, 43, defeated Mark Allen 10-6 in Sunday's final at the Barbican Centre to surpass Steve Davis' tally of six Championship titles.

'The Rocket' also moved to 19 victories across snooker's 'Triple Crown' events -- the World Championship, UK Championship and Masters -- to break Stephen Hendry's previous record of 18.

"It's great to make history. To beat Davis's record and to beat Stephen Hendry, who is my hero and the ultimate player, is just crazy," O'Sullivan said.

"I never thought I would be chasing these kinds of records. I just want to get my head down and play but I don't want to stop there -- I want to put in some distance and make it harder for the next guy to overtake me."

O'Sullivan has endured a strained relationship with snooker over the past few years and threatened to quit the sport on numerous occasions, most recently proposing to form a breakaway 'Champions League style' tour.

"I was playing for the fans today," O'Sullivan added. "It's payback time -- they have supported me for so long and they go through it all with me so I just need to play with a smile on my face.

"I am not setting myself any limits. I will play as many tournaments as I think I can play, whether they are big or small. It's just about playing and trying to enjoy it, because it's a fantastic sport."
