We've identified the top all-time quarterbacks for every NFL team and asked our NFL Nation beat reporters -- and you, the fans -- to help us determine each signal-caller's place in franchise history.
What follows is the final ranking of the top quarterbacks in Washington Redskins history, both from our NFL Nation reporter and our final fan polling.
NFL Nation ranking:
1. Sammy Baugh
2. Sonny Jurgensen
3. Joe Theismann
4. Billy Kilmer
5. Mark Rypien
Baugh and Jurgensen both reached the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and though the latter never played in a playoff game, the former helped the Redskins to world championships in 1937 and '42. They combined to lead the NFL in passing yards seven times. Baugh dominated a run-heavy era with his arm, leading the league in completions seven times. The other three QBs all played in the Super Bowl, with Theismann and Rypien both winning. Theismann retired with a handful of team records and remains the Redskins' all-time leader in career passing yards. Kilmer, who arrived via trade as Jurgensen's backup, was twice named All-Pro as he helped lead a Redskins revival in the 1970s, and Rypien was a terrific downfield passer and two-time Pro Bowler. -- John Keim
