Tokyo, rest of world go ga-ga on social media over Margielyn Didal's charm

Margielyn Didal fell way short of a historic medal in the inaugural staging of women's street skateboarding in the Tokyo Olympics.

The Filipino, however, still won something on Monday: the hearts of everybody present in the venue and watching all over the world.

Those who saw it just couldn't get away from the 22-year-old's magnetic smile - for one, because she had it on her face all the while and for another, it will just pull you in no matter what you do.

The Olympics itself had to acknowledge the power of Didal's charm:

There was also a more localized version from the host country. (Rough translation: The Philippines' Didal had a nice smile even after a failed trick.)

Without a doubt, the Filipino skater made the Philippines proud. Frontline Pilipinas anchor Gretchen Ho had a front row seat to her doing just that:

Most interestingly, though, Didal's charm has apparently reached the other end of the globe as her newfound friendship with fellow finalist - and eventual silver medalist - Rayssa Leal has caught the attention of Brazil.
