Roger Federer, Nick Kyrgios top men's grass-court rankings

Played on for only a few weeks each year, grass rewards those who know what to do on it. Veterans have become prominent during this portion of the season, benefiting from their experience and the extra power supplied by the court, but there are a few younger ones who have also adapted well. Here's a look at the players with some of the highest winning percentages on the surface. (Winning percentage figures from ATP Tour statistics).

1. Roger Federer: 87.3 percent

Not a surprise to see Federer leading the way -- seven Wimbledon titles will do that. Not only does he have the highest proportion of grass-court wins for current players, he's the Open Era leader in this category.

2. Nick Kyrgios: 85.7 percent

Seeing the Australian 20-year-old that high is more of a surprise than Federer. Though his percentage is based on just one season of grass-court play, it was quite a season. Kyrgios won the Nottingham challenger and then defeated Rafael Nadal to reach the quarterfinals in his first Wimbledon appearance.

3. Andy Murray: 83 percent

The top British player has done well on home turf, as his percentage illustrates. In addition to winning the Wimbledon title, he has had a very consistent record at the tournament and has also won Queen's three times.

4. Novak Djokovic: 80 percent

The Serb has rarely played grass tournaments other than at Wimbledon, but it hasn't stopped him from winning the title two times.

5. Rafael Nadal: 78.2 percent

He's a two-time Wimbledon champion, but Nadal's standing has dropped because of recent second-round and fourth-round defeats.

6. Lleyton Hewitt: 77.1 percent

The former Wimbledon champion is now below 100, but has eight titles on grass -- second to Federer's 14 titles -- and it is the surface on which he is still dangerous.

7. Roberto Bautista Agut: 76.9 percent

The Spaniard with a very un-Spaniard-like game has a very un-Spaniard-like record on the grass surface. It comes from winning a small tournament on grass and reaching the third round of Wimbledon a year ago, when he was in good form generally, not just on the lawns.

8. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga: 71.7 percent

The Frenchman is a former Wimbledon semifinalist and one of the few top players willing to come to the net on a regular basis and grass gives him occasion to do so.

9T. Tomas Berdych: 69.6 percent

The former Wimbledon finalist has power few can match, and the grass only increases its effect. But he has to be playing in top form to take advantage of it.

9T. David Ferrer: 69.6 percent

His very Spaniard-like game hasn't prevented Ferrer from doing well in the small grass-court events leading up to Wimbledon, though he hasn't done anything huge at the tournament itself.

11. Richard Gasquet: 68.1 percent

Another former Wimbledon semifinalist, Gasquet can be brilliant on the surface like any other, if he commits to the more attacking mentality it requires.

12. Tommy Haas: 67.1 percent

With his smooth game, the former Wimbledon semifinalist has been a regular performer on the lawns, and even now, following yet another shoulder surgery, still looks to have it.

13T. Marin Cilic: 66.7 percent

Like the other big-serving Croatians, Cilic can do a thing or two on the surface and has won the Queen's tournament.

13T. Feliciano Lopez: 66.7 percent

With his big serve, big forehand and slice backhand, the Spaniard's game is built for grass.

15. Philipp Kohlschreiber: 64.7 percent

Kohlschreiber is small in size, but big in backhand, and it gets a little extra kick on grass.

16. John Isner 63.2 percent

Despite his huge delivery, Isner didn't take to grass right away, but has done quite well despite that.
