Carter scores 21 in No. 15 Texas A&M women's 91-67 victory
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Chennedy Carter, the nation's top-scoring freshman, poured in 21 points and No. 15 Texas A&M cruised past Vanderbilt 91-67 on Sunday.
Carter, who came in averaging 20.8 points per game, made only 1 of 6 from the arc but was 10 of 15 otherwise for the Aggies (17-5, 6-2 SEC), who won their third straight and sixth in their last seven.
Danni Williams added 18 points, Khaalia Hillsman 16 and Anriel Howard 12. Jasmine Lumpkin had 13 rebounds as the Aggies ruled the boards 43-24 including 19 on the offensive glass.
The Aggies led 42-28 at halftime and broke the game wide open in the third quarter, outscoring the Commodores 32-19, including a 17-2 run over the final 3:43. They made 14 of 16 free throws in the period.
Chelsie Hall scored 16 points, Kayla Overbeck 14 and Christa Reed 13 for Vanderbilt (5-17, 1-7).
