For the first time in program history, the Oregon Ducks are headed to the women's Final Four after outlasting Mississippi State 88-84 in a thrilling showdown of the top two seeds in the Portland regional final. To the delight of a huge pro-Oregon crowd at the Moda Center, Sabrina Ionescu scored 14 of her 31 points in the fourth quarter, including a crucial 3-pointer with 1:13 left and Oregon up just three. The Bulldogs fell just short of a third consecutive trip to the Final Four after losing in the championship game each of the last two years.

Fittingly for a game that's been back and forth throughout, Mississippi State and Oregon are tied at 59 as we head to the fourth quarter of the Portland regional final. Teaira McCowan drew her third foul on a collision late in the period and left the court holding her ribs, but will be able to return. Oregon's gotten a big lift from sophomore Satou Sabally, whose 17 points are tied with Sabrina Ionescu for game-high honors.

A battle of contrasting styles mirroring their star players saw Oregon take a 40-38 lead at halftime of the Portland regional final. The Ducks shot 8-of-15 beyond the arc, three of those from Sabrina Ionescu, who has a game-high 15 points. Mississippi State dominated inside, getting a first-half double-double from center Teaira McCowan (12 points, 10 rebounds).

An expected back-and-forth affair between Mississippi State and Oregon in the Portland regional final materialized in the first quarter, as the teams traded the lead six times before the Bulldogs took a 21-19 edge at period's end. Anriel Howard, who scored a career-high 30 points in a loss in Eugene earlier this season, continues to bedevil the Ducks. She's got a game-high nine points on 4-of-6 shooting.

After scoring just two points in the first half, Mississippi State center Teaira McCowan dominated after halftime to lead the Bulldogs to the Elite Eight for the third consecutive year with a 76-53 win over Arizona State. McCowan finished with 22 points and 13 rebounds, passing Sylvia Fowles to become the all-time leader in career NCAA tournament rebounding.
