LSU's Reese 'just trying to dominate as much as I can'

After dropping 15 points and 16 rebounds in an 85-62 victory over Vanderbilt, Angel Reese highlights how she is trying to lead the Tigers by accountability.


NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- — Angel Reese had 15 points and 16 rebounds and Aneesah Morrow also had a double-double to lead a balanced LSU attack and the 13th-ranked Tigers used a quick start en route to an 85-62 win over Vanderbilt on Thursday night.

Reese had eight points and eight rebounds in the first quarter when LSU held the Commodores to 2-of-16 shooting and took a 22-7 lead. By halftime the Tigers led 39-20 and had 19 second-chance points. Vanderbilt ended up conceding 32 second-chance points while getting outrebounded 57-35, 26-14 on the offensive end.

Flau'jae Johnson had 17 points to lead the Tigers (20-4, 7-3 Southeastern Conference), who had a season-high in second-chance points and offensive rebounds. Morrow had 13 points and 10 rebounds, Hailey Van Lith also had 13 points and Mikaylah Williams added 10. Reese reached double figures for the 55th straight game.

Iyana Moore scored 17 points for the Commodores (17-7, 4-6), who have lost five straight, eight straight in the series. Khamil Pierre had 13 points and 11 rebounds.

The Tigers took control early with Reese scoring six points in a game-opening 8-0 run and another 8-0 run made it 16-2.

LSU led 39-20 at the half with the Tigers 1 of 9 from 3-point range and Vanderbilt 1 of 18.

After an even third quarter, the Tigers led by as many as 26 in the fourth.

Vandy finished 6 of 32 from distance and shot 31% overall.

Alabama is at LSU on Sunday when Vanderbilt goes to Georgia.
