Chennedy Carter returns from ankle injury to lead Texas A&M to win

Texas A&M star guard Chennedy Carter returned to action Thursday after missing seven games over the past month due to an ankle injury.

The junior came off the bench for 18 points in the No. 16 Aggies' 74-53 victory over visiting Vanderbilt. Carter was 8-of-12 from the field and had four rebounds and an assist in playing 22 minutes.

Carter is averaging 21.6 points per game. She was hurt Jan. 9 against LSU, and Texas A&M subsequently lost that game and three more during the time Carter was injured. The Aggies are 19-5 overall and in a four-way tie for fourth place in the SEC at 7-4.

Carter has a year of eligibility left, but she could declare for April's WNBA draft because she turns 22 in this calendar year. She has not announced her intentions regarding the draft.
