Giannis helps Prunty to 4-0

Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 31 points and grabbed 18 rebounds and went 10-for-10 from the free throw line as the Bucks improved to 4-0 under Joe Prunty with a win over the 76ers on Monday night. Prunty, who is in his first NBA head-coaching job, is the first man to win his first four games as an NBA head coach after taking over a team in midseason since Frank Vogel with the Pacers in 2010-11. Vogel won his first four games with the Pacers after taking over for Jim O’Brien.

It’s the second time this season, and the third time in his career, that Antetokounmpo scored at least 30 points and grabbed at least 15 rebounds in a game. The only other Bucks players over the last 40 seasons with two 30/15 games in the same season were Terry Cummings (two in 1984-85) and Vin Baker (two in 1995-96).

Antetokounmpo went 10-for-10 from the line in this game, the sixth consecutive game in which he attempted at least 10 shots from the charity stripe. That matches the longest such streak in Bucks history. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar had a six-game streak in February 1972.

Turner provides punch off the bench

Myles Turner came off the bench to score 22 points and shoot 8-for-11 from the field in the Pacers’ win over the Hornets on Monday night. It’s the third time in his NBA career that Turner scored at least 20 points and made at least 70 percent of his shots from the field in a game he did not start; his two other games both coming in January 2016. The last player to have three games like that in a Pacers uniform was Danny Granger, who had three such games in calendar year 2006.

Hawks streak continues

Kent Bazemore’s 22 points led the Hawks over the Timberwolves on Monday night, their sixth consecutive home win versus teams from the Western Conference. That matches the longest current home winning streak for any NBA team in interconference games. The Rockets have won their last six home games against teams from the Eastern Conference.

Evans ties Grizzlies record

Tyreke Evans scored 27 points off the bench in the Grizzlies’ win over the Suns on Monday night. It was the fourth time this season that Evans scored at least 25 points in a game that he did not start. That matches the most such games in a season in Grizzlies franchise history. Two other players had four games of at least 25 points as a non-starter in a season for the Grizzlies: Mike Miller in 2005-06 and Chucky Atkins in 2006-07.

Whiteside lead Heat

Hassan Whiteside led all players with 25 points and 14 rebounds in Miami’s win over Dallas on Monday night. It was the third time this season that Whiteside led all players, outright, in those two categories. He also did it in a loss in Orlando on October 18 (26 points, 22 rebounds) and in a win at Milwaukee on January 17 (27 points, 14 rebounds).

Irving leads Celtics to one-point win

Kyrie Irving scored 27 points in the Celtics’ 111-110 win over the Nuggets in Denver on Monday night. It was Boston’s fourth one-point win this season, tying them with the Heat for the most in the NBA.

Irving has scored 83 points (27.7 per game) and shot 32-for-58 (.552) from the field in the three one-point wins that he has played in this season.
