Nine straight road wins for the Jazz after a rough start

The Jazz beat the Pacers by a score of 104-84 in Indiana for their ninth consecutive road win on Wednesday. Utah was just 5-19 on the road before their streak began on January 24. Utah’s nine-game road winning streak is the longest in NBA history for a team that began the streak with a road record at least 10 games under the .500 mark. The previous longest such streak was held by the Suns, who won eight consecutive games away from home while entering the streak with a 5-25 road record.

D’Antoni’s Rockets win 17th straight

The Rockets beat the Bucks on Wednesday to extend their winning streak to 17 games. It’s the second time Mike D’Antoni has led his team to a 17 game winning streak in his career, having also done that when he manned the sidelines for the Suns in 2006-07. The only other head coaches with multiple single-season winning streaks of 17 or more games are Red Auerbach (1946-47 and 1959-60) and Phil Jackson (1995-96 and 1999-2000).

Young trio leads Bulls to victory

Lauri Markkanen scored 22 points and Kris Dunn and Zach LaVine each chipped in with 21 points in the Bulls’ win over the Grizzlies on Wednesday. It marked the first time in the Bulls’ franchise history that three players, all under the age of 24, each scored 20 or more points in the same game.

LeBron dominates Nuggets

LeBron James had 39 points and 10 assists in the Cavaliers win over the Nuggets on Wednesday. James has now produced a double-double with at least 35 points in 65 games in his career, by far the most such games among active players, nearly 20 more than the player with the next highest total (Russell Westbrook, 46).

Mirotic comes up big off the bench

Nikola Mirotic registered 26 points and 10 rebounds off the bench leading the Pelicans to a win over the Kings on Wednesday. It’s the third time Mirotic has produced at least 25 points and 10 rebounds in a reserve role since he entered the league in 2014, having also done that on March 20, 2015 and March 29, 2016 while he was with the Bulls. That ties Wilson Chandler, Zach Randolph and Hassan Whiteside for the most such games for any NBA player over the last four seasons.

Lowry snaps Raptors’ streak

Kyle Lowry registered 15 assists to go along with his 15 points in Toronto’s overtime win over Detroit on Wednesday. It marked the first time in over five years that a Raptors player produced 15 assists in a game, since Jose Calderon handed out 17 assists against the Pistons on December 19, 2012. Toronto’s streak of 446 consecutive games without having a player record 15 or more assists was the second-longest current streak of that kind entering Wednesday’s action, behind the Knicks (579 straight games).

Gaudreau produces 280 points in his first 300 games

Johnny Gaudreau, playing in the 300th game of his NHL career, recorded two assists for the Flames in their 5–1 win at Buffalo. Gaudreau, a New Jersey native, ranks second among active U.S.-born NHL players in both points (280) and assists (187) in their first 300 games, behind Patrick Kane (286 points, 189 assists).

Crosby records his 1100th point

Sidney Crosby recorded the 1100th point of his NHL career when he notched the last of his three assists in the Penguins’ 5–2 win at Philadelphia. Crosby reached the 1100-point mark in his 850th NHL game, the fewest games any player has required to do that since Jaromir Jagr hit that mark in his 825th career game, on Nov. 30, 2001. Crosby’s three-point game was his second this season against the Flyers and his 12th career game with three or more points versus Philadelphia in regular-season play. The only other players with at least a dozen three-point games against the Flyers are Mario Lemieux (17), Jagr (15), Wayne Gretzky (13) and Bryan Trottier (12).
