Greater D.C. Week 3 POWERADE baseball rankings

Northern Virginia continues its dominance of our area rankings, placing four teams in our top five and earning six ranked teams. Lake Braddock suffered its first loss of the season but retains its spot atop the rankings with a 9-1 mark. Oakton continues to surge and appears cemented at No. 2 with St. John's nipping at its heels. James Madison and South County took advantage of spring tourneys to move into the No. 4 and 5 spots, respectively. They leapfrog Severna Park and Riverdale Baptist based on strength of schedule and Park's inactivity over the last few weeks. New to the rankings is Hylton, a Virginia school making some noise in the Cardinal AAA Conference. The squad is undefeated against league foes and has won eight straight contests.

Here's a look at the top of the rankings:

1. Lake Braddock (9-1) — last week No. 1

2. Oakton (6-1) — last week No. 2

3. St. John's (13-1) — last week No. 4
