The New York Knicks will look to upgrade the point guard position in the offseason. Will a former Knick consider re-signing with the team in July?

"I am having a lot of fun where I am at," Charlotte Hornets backup point guard Jeremy Lin told Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPNNewYork.com. "I don't want to get too far ahead of myself. I just don't want to let free agency affect my focus. I haven't spoken about it, I am not thinking about it and I just want to ride this one out. This is a special season for me."

Lin owns a player option worth $2.42 million for 2016-17 and he will decline it, so he can join the free agent market in July. The Hornets will have Lin's Non-Bird free agent rights, so the only way to increase his salary is to sign him with room under the cap or with the "Non-Taxpayer" Mid-Level Exception should Charlotte operate as an "over-the-cap" team.

Lin is having a really good season with the Hornets as he is averaging 11.8 points, 2.9 assists and 3.1 rebounds.

Lin played in New York during the 2011-12 season and he averaged 14.6 points, 6.2 assists and 3.1 rebounds. It has been his best season in the NBA.
