The second 10-day contract signed by guard Archie Goodwin expires Monday night, and according to Shams Charania of The Vertical, the Brooklyn Nets are planning to keep Goodwin for the rest of the season. Per Charania, Goodwin will sign a two-year deal on Tuesday that will cover the remainder of this season and include guarantee dates for 2017-18.

Recently, Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson said he liked Goodwin's tough mentality.

"[He] played football in high school. I like that," Atkinson told the New York Post. “Maybe that’s old school. I keep telling [general manager] Sean [Marks], we need more football players."

Goodwin, the No. 29 pick in the 2013 NBA draft, has played in seven games with the Nets this season and is averaging 6.6 points, 1.9 assists and 1.6 rebounds.

After spending his first three years in the NBA with the Phoenix Suns, Goodwin also had a brief stint with the New Orleans Pelicans this season.
