Rumor Central: Jarell Martin to have tough time making Grizzlies' roster?

If forward JaMychal Green re-signs with the Memphis Grizzlies, the team will have 20 players signed to contracts, which includes two with two-way deals. That leaves three players to be moved off the roster by no later than Oct. 16, the day before the start of the 2017-18 NBA regular season.

Rumor Central

Chris Herrington of The Commercial Appeal speculates that two-year NBA veteran Jarell Martin might not make Memphis' opening-night roster. Herrington writes: "With Green and Ivan Rabb both on board, Martin's roster spot seems to be on thin ice."

Martin, the No. 25 selection in the 2015 NBA draft, has not improved his game during his first two years and averaged just 3.9 points and 3.9 rebounds during the 2016-17 season. Martin is guaranteed $1.47 million for the upcoming season, and the Grizzlies own a team option for 2018-19.

If the Grizzlies don't make any trades, the players on the roster bubble will likely include Martin, Mario Chalmers, Andrew Harrison, Wade Baldwin IV and Troy Daniels.
