After starting all 82 regular-season games in 2016-17, Minnesota Timberwolves big man Gorgui Dieng is likely heading to a backup role to begin the 2017-18 season following the addition of Taj Gibson during the summer. Will Dieng accept a backup role? The answer is yes.

Rumor Central

"We should worry about how many years [we've been] here without winning more than whether we should start or not," Dieng told the Pioneer Press. "We've got good players, so it's coach's job. Everybody wants to have this problem, wants to have a problem of deciding who you want to start or not to."

Dieng averaged 32.4 minutes in 2016-17 and could play that much this season coming off the bench at either the center or power forward positions behind Gibson and Karl-Anthony Towns.

Dieng, 27, is beginning the first season of a four-year, $62.8 million extension he signed on Oct. 31, 2016.
