According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Pittsburgh landed a verbal commitment from Class of 2016 shooting guard Maverick Rowan (Midland, Pa./Lincoln Park) on Sunday.
The 6-foot-6 Rowan averaged 22.6 points as a freshman at Lincoln Park last season. He was garnering early interest from Ohio State and North Carolina.
"He's 6-6 and can really shoot. That's what people like about him," Lincoln Park athletic director Mike Bariski told the paper.
Rowan is the first recruit from the 2016 class for the Panthers.
