The Louisville Cardinals picked up a commitment from ESPN 300 quarterback Jawon Pass on Thursday afternoon. The ninth-ranked dual-threat quarterback and the 186th-ranked player overall chose Louisville over Auburn and Alabama at a news conference at Carver High School in Columbus, Georgia.
The 6-foot-5, 211-pound athlete visited Alabama earlier in the week, leading many to believe that the Crimson Tide could be the frontrunner. Louisville, however, signed Pass’ older brother Khane in February, and the opportunity to play with family was too much to pass up for the four-star signal-caller.
With the commitment of Pass, Louisville now has 13 commits, including three who are ranked four-star prospects.
Auburn and Alabama, meanwhile, weren’t left out in the cold. Each team already has a four-star quarterback commit -- Woody Barrett for the Tigers and Jalen Hurts for the Tide -- and the two teams aren’t short on depth at the position. Alabama signed five-star quarterback Blake Barnett last year, while Auburn added four-star prospect Tyler Queen. Both of them enrolled early.
In addition to Pass, Lousville also has a commit from three-star QB Tylin Oden, and the Cardinals also signed quarterback Lamar Jackson in February.
With the commitment of Pass, Dillon Sterling-Cole is now the lone ESPN 300 quarterback who has yet to make a verbal commitment.
