Best of the college football recruiting visits: Big Ten

It was an up and down weekend on the field for the Big Ten, but a few teams were able to capitalize on the recruiting trail within the conference.

Northwestern, Maryland and Nebraska were the three schools in conference who held the bigger recruiting weekends, so here is a social media-driven look at what took place.

Northwestern came away with an exciting win over a ranked Stanford team at home in front of some of their commits and targets, including Ben Skowronek and Aidan Smith.

The team was so excited after the win that the visiting recruits and players were treated to a little show in the locker room.

Nebraska didn’t have the same results on the field as Northwestern, losing on a last-second hail mary to BYU, but there were still some positive notes from the recruiting visitors.

The prospects enjoyed the game, but the most buzz came beforehand when the group ran into NBA star Dwyane Wade and celebrity wife Gabrielle Union. Wide receiver target Jaevon McQuitty caught a picture of the two and tweeted out his excitement.

Union, a Nebraska native and fan of the Huskers, even tweeted out a picture with new coach Mike Riley.

Maryland came away with a win against Richmond at home and also came away with some recruiting wins with the visiting prospects. Among those visitors was linebacker target Keith Simms.

Simms enjoyed himself on the visit and said the Terps are a major player in his recruitment.

“I had a good time yesterday. They always make me feel at home and like a top priority,” Simms said. “It's a place I can see myself, because I like the direction they are headed in.”
