UA jersey tour: Terrell Hall

WATCH: Terrell Hall UA jersey presentation

Terrell Hall was one of two players at St. John’s College High presented with an Under Armour All America jersey on Monday afternoon, in a ceremony attended by friends and family.

On Friday, RecruitingNation visited the school and sat down with Hall ahead of the jersey ceremony. The 6-foot-6, 250-pound defensive end said he fully understands the significance of the honor.

“It’s real big,” Said Hall. “Just coming from an Under Armour school where [company founder] Kevin Plank graduated from, I know it will mean a lot to have Aaron [Hansford] and I representing Under Armour and the city.”

While today was a celebration for Hall, Hansford and the prestigious school, the former Ohio State commitment wishes one more teammate was going to get to experience playing in the game.

“It’s definitely an honor because I’m not sure how many times you get three players from the same high school in the game that have been together for four years at the same high school. I wish Devante [Brooks] could experience it too, but it's real big for the school.”

Brooks, a Tennessee commitment, is out for the season due to knee surgery. He was selected for the Under Armour All-America Game prior to undergoing a second knee surgery.

Hall, No. 167 in the ESPN 300, has become one of the nation's most heavily recruited prospects in the last year after being primarily focused on basketball his first two years at St. John’s College High. Given that he has his pick of many of the nation's top programs, selecting the schools to officially visit can be a tough task.

“Right now, the main schools that have been recruiting me are Florida, Florida State, Alabama, Texas A&M, UCLA, Tennessee -- those are probably the top guys that have been consistently hitting me up. I know I’m getting to Bama this weekend, Tennessee wants me to set up an official, I will visit Florida when they play Tennessee and I will probably take an official visit to Texas A&M after the season. After that, I will probably take a visit to Florida State, but I’m not sure of the last two visits.”

Hometown Maryland will likely not receive an official visit, but the Terrapins remain in the mix.

“Maryland has been recruiting me very hard too. I’m not sure yet if I will take an official there because it’s so close and I can go over there easily,”

Hall does not have a timetable for making a decision. Alabama is considered the favorite by some close to the program.

Seven questions with Terrell Hall:

What player are you looking forward to competing with or against in the Under Armour All-America Game?

All of them. There isn’t a single player I’m really looking forward to going against. I know the guys that went to The Opening may have their eyes on some guys they went up against or watched up there. It will definitely be an experience to be around all the guys and compete.

If you could start a team with any player in your class, who would it be and why?

Start a team? I would say myself, but at the same time probably Dwayne Haskins because he is a quarterback and he would be in a position to lead.

What is your earliest football memory?

It was when I played football in Georgia when I was like five years old. I used to play center and linebacker. I scored a lot of touchdowns on defense because when I would hit people, they would fumble and I would return them for touchdowns.

Which football player did you watch as a kid?

Ray Lewis. I liked the way that he played, and his passion. There are also a lot of guys in the league that I like now too, like J.J. Watt and Richard Sherman. I look up to a lot of guys that basically play with that edge. You can tell the game is much more than just football for them, and they play with that chip on their shoulder.

If you could take on any pro in their sport, who would it be and why?

It would be between Kobe Bryant and J.J. Watt. I always looked up to Kobe Bryant because of the way he competed. Or Watt because he is the best at my position, and my favorite.

What number do your wear, and why?

I’m wearing No. 1 this year, because of my boost in confidence feeling like I was the best player. It’s kind of my reminder to go out and play like you are the best player in the country and hopefully in the world one day.

What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

That I was really focused on basketball for the most part, even though I played football most of my life. My freshman and sophomore years I was actually thinking of sticking with basketball only, but my coaches told me that I didn’t realize how good I could be if I focused on football. Once I did, I realized it.
