Two prospects ranked No. 1 at their position announced their commitments in the past hour.
Seminoles land five-star DT
Marvin Wilson was the top-ranked uncommitted prospect heading into signing day and the five-star defensive tackle made it a special day for Florida State.
Wilson announced for the Seminoles over LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma and South Florida. He is the third five-star prospect ranked No. 1 at his position in this class for Florida State, which also signed No. 1 running back Cam Akers and No. 1 defensive end Joshua Kaindoh.
USC picks up power duo
Teammates Joseph Lewis and Greg Johnson announced their commitments to USC, as the Trojans added six ESPN 300 prospects on signing day. Lewis is the nation’s No. 1 wide receiver and a huge pickup for the Trojans as a local prospect who looked as though he could leave the area early in the process. Both Lewis and Johnson selected USC over Nebraska and Oregon. Johnson is a former Arizona commit and a huge commitment for the Trojans. It’s a loaded year for cornerbacks in Southern California, and USC missed on all of them until picking up Johnson on signing day.
Big defensive backs headed to Big Ten
The Big Ten landed two talented defensive backs from Southern California in the last hour, as ESPN 300 cornerback Elijah Blades committed to Nebraska and safety Emmanuel Flowers committed to Michigan State. Blades is a former Florida commitment and another significant addition out of California for a Nebraska program that has made that state a priority in this class. Flowers picked up heavy interest from a number of programs late in the process and is an intriguing addition for the Spartans.
Former Cal commit heads to TCU
Athlete Michael Onyemaobi committed to Cal in May but decommitted in January when several programs made late pushes. A late visit to TCU was huge for the three-star athlete and it sealed the deal for Onyemaobi, who selected TCU over Iowa State, Nebraska, Washington State and others.
Cal adds another one late
Cal looked to add prospects late in the process and found one in speedy cornerback Branden Smith. Smith earned offers from Oregon State, UCLA and Washington State and the three-star will head to Cal with a chance to impress new head coach Justin Wilcox.
Utes with another DL addition
Utah continues to add prospects along the defensive line, as the Utes added three-star prospect Nick Ford on Wednesday. Ford was down to Cal, Colorado, Utah and Washington. Utah has done just fine when it comes to developing defensive linemen and while the Utes missed out on in-state defensive tackle Jay Tufele, they will sign a handful of prospects along the line in this class.
Ducks bring back Lenoir
ESPN 300 cornerback Deommodore Lenoir decommitted from Oregon just a few hours before the Ducks fired head coach Mark Helfrich, but pursuit by new coach Willie Taggart brought Lenoir back into the fold, as the nation's No. 161 overall prospect will sign with the Ducks. It's a huge haul of Southern California defensive backs for the Ducks, as Lenoir joins ESPN 300 cornerback Thomas Graham and ESPN 300 athlete Jaylon Redd, who could play cornerback, wide receiver or running back at Oregon.
