          Bracketology: St. John's on the rise

          Things are looking up for St. John's, 26 days before Selection Sunday.

          As of now, the Red Storm (17-8, 6-6 Big East) would very likely be in the NCAA Tournament field of 68. In the latest edition of ESPN.com's Bracketology, St. John's is a No. 10 seed -- not among the "Last Four In" and not even among the "Last Four Byes."

          But a loss at Georgetown on Tuesday would knock St. John's down a peg or two, and the schedule isn't easy the rest of the way. Yes, the Red Storm will play their next three games at home. But beating Xavier and Georgetown at Madison Square Garden will be challenging, and they still have a game at No. 6 Villanova on March 7.

          Seton Hall's NCAA Tournament hopes are on life support. The Pirates (15-11, 5-9 Big East) have now lost five games in a row, and may lose leading scorer Sterling Gibbs to a suspension after his flagrant foul Monday night.

          Iona (21-6, 14-2 MAAC) has a two-game lead over Rider with four regular-season games remaining in the Metro Atlantic, and is currently projected as a No. 12 seed in the Big Dance.

          St. Francis of Brooklyn (18-9, 12-2 NEC) has a three-game lead over Robert Morris and Bryant with four regular-season games remaining in the Northeast, and is currently projected as a No. 16 seed that would also have to play a play-in game.
