Doctors prescribe new meds for Michael Cuddyer, who remains active

NEW YORK -- Michael Cuddyer avoided the disabled list, at least on Thursday night.

After getting examined by New York Mets doctors at the Hospital for Special Surgery, Cuddyer was prescribed a different medication to combat a bone bruise in his left knee, according to manager Terry Collins. Cuddyer remained active, at least immediately following the series-opening 3-0 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

"The doctor said he thinks hopefully that tomorrow [Friday] his knee should start feeling a lot better," Collins said. "So we'll have to wait and see then."

Cuddyer has been out of the starting lineup since Sunday and has started only six games this month.
