Michael Conforto status unaffected by Friday's trade

NEW YORK -- When the New York Mets acquired Juan Uribe and Kelly Johnson on Friday, the club designated John Mayberry Jr. for assignment and demoted Danny Muno to Triple-A Las Vegas. Meanwhile, prospect Michael Conforto, who made his major league debut on Friday, remained with the big league club.

General manager Sandy Alderson reiterated Saturday that the 22-year-old Conforto's status is unaffected by the two-player acquisition.

Conforto went 0-for-3 with an RBI in his debut against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He again starts in left field on Saturday.

"The players that are producing will play," Alderson said. "To the extent that he’s making a contribution, he'll be here. To the extent he's not making a contribution, he'll be elsewhere developing."
