BRADENTON 11, ST. LUCIE 6: Chris Flexen surrendered six first-inning runs and St. Lucie dropped the opener of its best-of-three opening-round playoff series. The Mets pulled within 6-3 in the fifth on a two-run single by Patrick Biondi and David Thompson's RBI double. St. Lucie had the tying run at the plate an inning later, but Jhoan Urena grounded into an inning-ending double play. The Marauders then answered with five runs in the seventh against Alex Palsha to open an 11-3 lead. The Mets will try to stave off elimination on Wednesday at Bradenton. St. Lucie was 0-9 at McKechnie Field during the regular season. Box
