          Minors 6.30.13: Frenzel walk-off lifts Gnats

          LAS VEGAS 4, TACOMA 1: Matt Fox limited Tacoma to three hits in six scoreless innings. Las Vegas (43-38) took a 2-0 lead in the second on Jamie Hoffmann's double, which scored Ike Davis and Brandon Hicks. The lead swelled to 4-0 in the fifth on Eric Campbell's double, which plated Davis and Hoffmann. Davis went 1-for-3 with a double and walk and is hitting .290 in the Pacific Coast League since his demotion. Greg Burke recorded the final four outs for his third save. Box

          BINGHAMTON 5, TRENTON 4: The B-Mets picked up their 50th win before July 1 for the first time in the franchise’s 22-year history. Noah Syndergaard surrendered a solo homer


          lastname Syndergaard to Ramon Flores on the game's second pitch, but the deficit did not last long. Facing rehabbing Yankee Michael Pineda, Danny Muno walked and Cesar Puello blasted a two-run homer into the railyard in left field. In the second, Pineda surrendered a leadoff single to Richard Lucas, walked Blake Forsythe and plunked Joe Bonfe to load the bases. Two batters later, Pineda walked Muno to force in a run. Pineda struck out the next four batters, but the stretch abruptly ended when Lucas hit a towering solo homer. Pineda allowed four runs, four hits and walked four in three innings. After the game-opening homer, Syndergaard held the Thunder scoreless through the next four innings and departed. He had a season-high nine strikeouts. B-Mets reliever Jim Fuller surrendered a three-run homer to Francisco Arcia in the sixth, tying the score at 4. But in the bottom half, Puello hit a hard groundball that skipped off of third baseman Reegie Corona's glove. It bounced into foul territory and allowed Wilfredo Tovar to score from second. Ryan Fraser and Pedro Feliciano each then contributed a scoreless inning. Closer Jeff Walters allowed two baserunners in the ninth, but struck out Andrew Clark for his league-leading 20th save. Walters is the first B-Met to earn 20 saves in a season since Eddie Kunz in 2008 (27 saves). The B-Mets (50-29) have won 10 consecutive series. They went 19-5 in June. Box

          FORT MYERS 4, ST. LUCIE 1 (6 innings): Byron Buxton had three hits and scored three runs and Kennys Vargas had two hits and two RBIs as the Miracle won a rain-shortened six-inning game. The Miracle had a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth when the game was called. Rainy Lara (2-3) allowed three runs on six hits over five innings. For St. Lucie (41-37), T.J. Rivera had two hits and scored on Matt den Dekker's RBI double. Box

          SAVANNAH 2, ROME 1 (10 innings): Cole Frenzel bounced a single through the left side


          lastname Frenzel of the infield to drive in Phillip Evans for the walk-off victory. Frenzel also had a walk-off RBI single on April 28 against West Virginia. Evans began the winning rally with a single into center. After Yucarybert De La Cruz popped up a bunt attempt, Brandon Nimmo blooped a single into shallow left field. Newly acquired Kyle Johnson then was hit by a pitch, loading the bases with one out. Stefan Sabol struck out, but Frenzel then poked his game-winner past shortstop Jose Peraza. The Braves had scored the game’s opening run in the seventh when Chase Anselment homered against Gnats starter Luis Cessa. Cessa went 6 2/3 innings, allowing one run on seven hits and a walk. The Gnats (5-5/48-31) evened the score at 1 in the eighth. Nimmo singled, stole second and scored on Johnson’s single. Savannah reliever Beck Wheeler earned his first win of the year for a 1-2-3 10th inning. Box

          ELIZABETHTON 5, KINGSPORT 1: K-Mets starter Chris Flexen surrendered five runs, including three homers, in four innings. Andres Perez and Alberto Baldonado combined for five scoreless relief innings. The lone run for Kingsport (3-8) came in the fourth when Jonathan Leroux's sacrifice fly plated Richie Rodriguez, who had doubled. Box

          HUDSON VALLEY 1, BROOKLYN 0 (11 innings): In his third relief inning, John Mincone surrendered a leadoff double to Julian Ridings in the bottom of the 11th. Ariel Soriano bunted Ridings to third. With one out, Tyler Young hit a grounder to second baseman LJ Mazzilli, who threw home too late to catch Ridings. Cyclones starter Robert Gsellman tossed eight scoreless innings, limiting Hudson Valley to four hits. Box
