          TUCSON 3, LAS VEGAS 2: D.J. Mitchell surrendered a tiebreaking run in the ninth. Greg Peavey returned from Binghamton to start the game, a day after Las Vegas clinched a postseason berth. He allowed two runs in 5 2/3 innings. Robert Carson tossed a scoreless inning in his return to the 51s. Box

          BINGHAMTON 6, NEW HAMPSHIRE 2: Allan Dykstra was named Binghamton’s team MVP


          lastname Dykstra before the game. He was named Eastern League MVP afterward. In between, Dykstra hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the sixth inning. Facing Marcus Walden, Joe Bonfe started a third-inning B-Mets rally with an infield single. A throwing error allowed him to reach second. Three batters later, Josh Rodriguez delivered an RBI single. Meanwhile, after allowing a leadoff double in the first inning, Logan Verrett retired 12 straight hitters. In the fifth, Ryan Schimpf ended the stretch with a single. After striking out Kevin Ahrens, Verrett gave up a two-run homer to Lance Zuwadski to give New Hampshire a 2-1 lead. Binghamton responded in the sixth. Rodriguez led off the frame with his third hit of the night, and Dykstra gave the B-Mets the lead for good with a two-run shot. The B-Mets added three unearned runs against Chad Beck in the seventh. Verrett left the game after five strong innings. He only allowed three hits. Reliever Jim Fuller tossed two scoreless innings to collect his third B-Mets win. Frank Francisco and Adam Kolarek each threw a scoreless inning to preserve the lead as the B-Mets collected their 86th win. The teams complete the regular season Monday. Box

          ST. LUCIE 16, JUPITER 0: St. Lucie completed its season with a 71-60 record, but failed to win either half and qualify for the postseason. After Jeurys Familia tossed a scoreless inning in his first game appearance since June 5 surgery to clean out his right elbow, Domingo Tapia tossed five scoreless innings. Angel Cuan completed the shutout with three scoreless frames to earn his first save. St. Lucie had a five-run third and 10-run fifth. Jayce Boyd went 4-for-5 with three RBIs. Matt Reynolds and Nelfi Zapata also drove in three runs apiece. Kevin Plawecki and Boyd were promoted to Binghamton after the game. Dustin Lawley, already promoted to Las Vegas, won the Florida State League home run title with 25. He finished second with 92 RBIs. Box

          GREENVILLE 2, SAVANNAH 1: On the regular season's second-to-last-day, Greenville snapped Savannah's five-game winning streak. The Drive (28-40/50-87) scored twice in the third. With a runner at first and one out, Savannah starter Seth Lugo briefly lost home plate, issuing three straight walks to force in the first run. Mario Martinez then lifted a sacrifice fly. Lugo did not allow another runner, retiring the final 11 batters he faced. He tossed six innings, striking out eight and walking three while allowing two runs on two hits. The Gnats (34-34/77-60) got a run back in the sixth. Brandon Nimmo singled, stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error. Nimmo scored on Cole Frenzel’s single. Nimmo finished 1-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch. Frenzel was 3-for-4 with a double. Savannah’s ninth-inning rally came up short. The Gnats left the tying run at third and the go-ahead run at first when Phillip Evans grounded into a game-ending fielder's choice. Marco Camarena (5-3, 3.42 ERA) starts the noon regular-season finale Monday. The Gnats begin the playoffs Wednesday, at home against second-half division champ Augusta. Box

          KINGSPORT 3, GREENEVILLE 1: The K-Mets opened their best-of-three Appalachian League playoff series with a victory against the Astros behind five scoreless innings from Chris Flexen. Persio Reyes limited Greeneville to a seventh-inning run in four innings of relief to earn the save. Kingsport jumped to a 2-o lead in the top of the first. Yeixon Ruiz had a leadoff double and Victor Cruzado walked with one out. Jeyckol De Leon and Joe Tuschak followed with run-scoring singles. The K-Mets opened a three-run lead in the fourth on Ruiz's RBI single. Box

          ABERDEEN 5, BROOKLYN 4: The Cyclones' postseason chances were dealt a critical blow with a second straight loss to the IronBirds, who now lead the divsion by 1½ games. Brooklyn (37-35) has three games remaining. Tied at 1 entering the ninth Sunday, Paul Perez was charged with four runs (three earned) in the top half. With one out, Mike Yastrzemski delivered a three-run double to knock out Perez. Juan Urbina entered, and a wild pitch and error by catcher Colton Plaia allowed Aberdeen to take a 5-1 lead. Brooklyn opened the bottom half with singles from L.J. Mazzilli and Jared King. A throwing error on James Roche's grounder to third base allowed one run to score. Alex Sanchez added a run-scoring groundout and Tomas Nido produced a run-scoring single to pull the Cyclones within a run. Ismael Tierjina pinch ran for Nido, but was stranded at first base when Plaia popped out and Anthony Chavez flied out. Box
