ALTOONA 6, BINGHAMTON 5: The B-Mets stranded the tying run at second base as their ninth-inning rally fell short. Trailing by two runs against Quinton Miller, Matt Clark earned a

Reynolds leadoff walk and Kyle Johnson singled. Matt Reynolds then capped a four-hit game with an RBI single to pull the B-Mets within 6-5. Miller rebounded by retiring Kevin Plawecki on a fly out. He then struck out pinch hitter Rylan Sandoval looking to end the game. Binghamton had opened the scoring in the second against Joely Rodriguez. Jayce Boyd singled, took second on a passed ball and scored on Dustin Lawley’s double. Lawley advanced to third on Darrell Ceciliani’s chopper to first and scampered home when Matt Curry forced an errant throw to Rodriguez covering the bag. Altoona answered in the bottom half. After a single by Justin Howard and double by Willy Garcia, Curry lifted a fly ball to the left-field wall. Johnson jumped and kept the ball in play, but had it kick off his glove for a run-scoring double. Hansel Robles limited the damage to that single run by striking out the final two hitters of the frame.

Robles hit a wall in the fifth and failed to register the final out of the inning. Alen Hanson ripped a two-out, two-run triple, giving the Curve its first lead. Following a walk, Elias Diaz doubled as Altoona took a 5-2 lead. Binghamton used a two-out rally in the seventh against Emmanuel de Leon to get back in the game. Nelfi Zapata had a pinch-hit double and Johnson plated him with a single. Johnson scored three batters later when Plawecki was plunked with the bases loaded. De Leon preserved the 5-4 lead and stranded the bases loaded by inducing Boyd to bounce into a fielder’s choice. The Curve opened a two-run lead in the eighth against Cody Satterwhite. Second baseman Brian Burgamy charged a slow roller, but fired wide of first, putting runners at the corners. Garcia's ensuing sac fly made it 6-4. Robles (3-3) allowed five runs on seven hits while striking out six in 4 2/3 innings. Reynolds is 7-for-11 in two games following a five-game absence due to a back issue. Box

ST. LUCIE 4, DUNEDIN 3: St. Lucie took advantage of three critical Dunedin errors to produce four unearned runs, while Luis Cessa struck out a season-high 10 over seven

Cessa innings. Gonzalez Germen and Randy Fontanez stranded the tying run on third base in the eighth and ninth innings, respectively. Aderlin Rodriguez put the Mets in front in the first with a two-out double that plated Brandon Nimmo and Cam Maron. Both runs went as unearned against Taylor Cole because Nimmo had reached on shortstop Emilio Guerrero's throwing error. The Blue Jays scored all three of their runs and had four of their five hits against Cessa in the third. Nick Baligod had a game-tying two-run triple with two outs. K.C. Hobson singled in Baligod to put Dunedin ahead 3-2. Cessa retired nine in a row after Hobson’s single, striking out five during the span, until Phillip Evans’ error. Cessa brushed it off by retiring the final five batters he faced.

The Mets tied the score in the sixth. With two outs and Nimmo on second, Rodriguez hit a harmless grounder to Guerrero. The shortstop again threw wild to first base and Nimmo scored. In the seventh, Eudy Pina grounded a ball through Hobson’s legs at first base to reach with one out. After Pina advanced to second on Wil Browning’s wild pitch, Dilson Herrera doubled to put the Mets ahead, 4-3. Germen, making another rehab appearance with St. Lucie, stranded runners at the corners in the eighth when Derrick Chung lined out to Herrera at second. In the ninth, Fontanez surrendered a leadoff double to Kevin Patterson. He began to recover by striking out Guerrero. Peter Mooney then grounded out as pinch runner Christian Lopes advanced to third. Fontanez then induced a game-ending groundout to Rodriguez at third. Rodriguez’s throw was low, but first baseman Cole Frenzel made the scoop to seal the win. Fontanez has a team-leading eight saves. ASHEVILLE 12, SAVANNAH 6: Asheville scored seven runs in the third inning to establish an 8-0 lead and chase Savannah starter Ricky Knapp after 2 2/3 innings. The Gnats (38-18) got a run back in the third on Gavin Cecchini's bases-loaded sacrifice fly. Cecchini finished 2-for-4 with two doubles, his 12th and 13th of the season. He drove in another run with a double in a two-run fifth that brought Savannah within 9-3. The Gnats picked up three runs in the seventh, highlighted by Colton Plaia’s two-run homer, to close within 11-6. Box
