Pill shy of the cycle in his longest career outing. The victory, Binghamton’s ninth in its last 10 games, secured a three-game sweep. On a night the B-Mets welcomed five newcomers from St. Lucie, Pill stole the show. He put Binghamton on the board in the third with a solo homer. He became the first pitcher to go deep for the B-Mets since Justin Brunette in 2001. In his Double-A debut, Brandon Nimmo (0-for-2, two walks) worked a one-out walk in the fourth and scored on Dustin Lawley's double for a 2-0. The score stayed that way until the sixth, when the B-Mets blew the game open against reliever Phil McCormick. Lawley and a pair of fellow newly promoted players -- T.J. Rivera and Dilson Herrera -- each singled to load the bases with none out. Pill then smacked a three-run double down the right-field line. Kyle Johnson doubled to plate Pill for a 6-0 advantage. Pill (5-5) allowed four hits and retired 12 straight batters at one point. He struck out a season-high nine in his fifth straight win. Adam Kolarek pitched a scoreless ninth. Pill has four of the B-Mets pitchers’ seven hits this season. Herrera went 2-for-4 in his Double-A debut. Rivera went 1-for-3 with a walk. ST. LUCIE 7, FORT MYERS 4: New-look St. Lucie won its sixth straight game despite graduating five players to Binghamton and adding six players from Savannah. Four of those

Cecchini new additions -- Gavin Cecchini, L.J. Mazzilli, Jeff McNeil and Robert Coles -- played crucial roles in the victory. Mazzilli smashed a three-run homer, Cecchini drove in two runs, McNeil walked and scored and Coles picked up the final four outs to earn the save. Holdover Eudy Pina went 4-for-4 with two RBIs, two runs scored and finished a homer shy of the cycle. The Mets, who finished one game behind Fort Myers for first place in the first half, improved to 6-1 against the Miracle this season. The Mets jumped to 4-0 lead in the third. Pina greeted B.J. Hermsen with a single and stole second base. Cecchini drove him in with a double. After McNeil walked, Mazzilli clobbered a pitch over the left-field wall for a three-run homer. Adam Brett Walker put the Miracle on the board in the fourth with a sac fly. The Mets extended their lead to 7-1 in the sixth. Albert Cordero and Maikis De La Cruz singled against Alex Wimmers with one out. Pina brought both runners in with a triple. Cecchini knocked Pina in with a sac fly. The Miracle scored three runs with two outs in the seventh against Mets starter Gabriel Ynoa to make it 7-4. Jake Kuebler entered to get the final out, then induced a double-play ball in the eighth. Coles got the final out of that frame. After giving up a leadoff walk and a single in the ninth, he struck out Jorge Polanco and Travis Harrison. The game ended when Lance Ray grounded out.
