TCU co-offensive coordinator Doug Meacham turned down an offer Tuesday to become coach at Texas State, a source said.
Meacham and Texas State could not agree on a financial package, a source said.
Texas State is seeking a replacement for Dennis Franchione, who retired two weeks ago. Franchione earned $427,000 last year. Sources said Meacham is earning at least $500,000 at TCU.
Meacham also was a finalist for the North Texas job, which went to UNC offensive coordinator Seth Littrell.
