Florida and Colorado have scheduled a home-and-home series beginning in 2028. The schools announced the agreement Wednesday. Most of the players who will take part in the first game between the schools are still in elementary and middle schools. The first game will take place Sept. 9, 2028 in Gainesville, with the Gators traveling to Boulder, Colorado for another non-conference contest on Sept. 8, 2029. The programs have combined for four national titles and 35 conference crowns. The Gators have been reluctant to schedule many home-and-home series outside their annual rivalry with Florida State. They face Miami in Orlando this fall and scheduled a two-for-one with South Florida that begins in 2021. Florida hasn't played a non-conference, home-and-home series outside of the Sunshine State since facing Memphis State in 1988-89. The Gators haven't played a non-conference road game outside of Florida since traveling to Syracuse in 1991.

Colorado is hiring former North Carolina co-offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic to coach the offensive line, according to a source. Football Scoop first reported the move. Kapilovic had worked with Larry Fedora at both UNC and Southern Miss, serving as associate head coach with the Tar Heels.

Mike MacIntyre's firing is official. He will not coach this week at Cal, and an interim coach will he named. Colorado owes him $10.3 million, which can be offset if he obtains a job in the NFL or as a college head coach. Colorado will hire a search firm. Athletic director Rick George: "There's no doubt that the 2016 season was magical, and it appeared we were headed back to taking our place among the nation's elite. However, analyzing the direction of the program over the last two years, I felt this is the necessary time to make a change."

I'm hearing Colorado athletic director Rick George wants a recognizable name with previous head-coaching experience. Possible candidates include Fresno State coach Jeff Tedford, Boise State coach Bryan Harsin, former Oregon coach and Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich, and West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen, who may be interested in making a move. Syracuse coach Dino Babers also could be an interesting option.
