Alabama quarterback Mac Jones charged with DUI

Alabama freshman quarterback Mac Jones was arrested in Tuscaloosa on Friday and charged with driving under the influence and improper identification by a minor.

According to a Tuscaloosa Police spokesperson, police responded to a minor car accident at 2:14 a.m. Jones, who was one of the drivers, was arrested after officers performed a field sobriety test. No one was injured in the accident.

Incidental to the arrest, police discovered that Jones had a fake identification card.

Jones was transported to jail and released on $1,300 bond.

"We are disappointed in Mac's actions and this is obviously not the kind of behavior we expect from our players," Alabama coach Nick Saban said in a statement. "Mac has been suspended from Saturday's game against LSU. We will further evaluate what actions we need to take moving forward so we can correct the behavior. It is a privilege to represent The University of Alabama and there are certain responsibilities that go along with that privilege."

Jones has not played this season and is one of three scholarship quarterbacks on the roster, including starter Jalen Hurts and backup Tua Tagovailoa.

Jones was a four-star prospect from Jacksonville, Florida, when he signed with Alabama this year.
