Well, that's it from the presentation. I hope you all enjoyed this contest as much as we did. Heartening to see Pakistan pull through with the victory, and this should bode well for the remainder of the tour as Pakistan gain some much needed momentum. On behalf of Alagappan Muthu and the scorers, this is Rohan Sharma saying good night, and good luck.

Hafeez has also been adjudged both the Man of the Match and Man of the Series for the T20s.

Mohammad Hafeez, Pakistan captain: We have been working really hard, but things were not working for Pakistan. Some kind of luck, some kind of game awareness was missing. I think everyone contribute a lot in this game. We knew we had to win this game to stay positive for the rest of the series, and we did just that. We've been losing the matches which we could easily win, but it was luck or some kind of game awareness. Everyone contributed a lot. Bhatti showed a lot of commitment and has been a good find for Pakistan as well. We were having three senior players not with us with Malik, Razzaq, etc. We had a good meeting with each other to stay positive and do well for Pakistan. It's always great to do well for Pakistan and that I was able to contribute to the victory. Misbah is here and Shafiq is here so hopefully it all remains the same for the ODIs.

Faf du Plessis, South Africa captain: I think we weren't as good tonight in the bowling department as we have before. We made some errors and gave away 20 extra runs and that was the difference. It was a really good wicket, we could see it would be a nice deck. I thought we brought it back nicely in the last four overs, but in the middle we did not bowl to the right plans. We are in a very good place. We are not always going to win and tonight we didn't play our best so Pakistan played better and deserved to win it. Even in the previous victories, we weren't at our best, but we pulled it out. We have tried a few combinations. It is good if we can stick to the same winning combination, but we need to change it up for the T20 World Cup next year.

Mazher Arshad: "STAT: Of the 21 times Pakistan scored 150-plus in Twenty20s, they defended it 20 times. Says a lot about how good their bowlers are!"

Do join us in a few minutes' time for the match presentation.

An excellent final over from Tanvir does the job, and rewards the Pakistani batsmen who put on a good show today, especially when you consider how frail their batting appeared just a couple of weeks back. South Africa seemingly lost their way halfway through this chase, and despite some late-hitting heroics from JP Duminy, the gap was just wide enough for the tourists to take the match. Produced a match that I'm sure the Cape Town faithful will be pleased to have witnessed, which is a welcome change from the rather one-sided contests these teams have offered up in the recent past.

Sohail Tanvir to Miller, FOUR, while the result was a four it was again a lovely delivery on off stump as Tanvir does the job to give Pakistan a much-needed victory against South Africa finally. This was drilled to point, but was hit at such a rate of knots that it burst through the hands and went all the way to the boundary. But Pakistan don't mind as they square up the series with South Africa, and go up to fourth place
19.5
2
Sohail Tanvir to Miller, 2 runs, fired in on off this time as Miller can only find point, but when the throw comes in at the non-strikers, with no one backing up, the pair run the extra
19.4
1
Sohail Tanvir to Duminy, 1 run, low full toss again as JP only succeeds at drilling straight to Afridi at mid-off. Excellent over so far from Tanvir

Suleman: "Please win it Pakistan..!! close finishes are not sweeter than a win..!!"

19.3
1
Sohail Tanvir to Miller, 1 run, this time fires in a yorker on leg as all Miller can do is whip it off his pads
19.2
1
Sohail Tanvir to Duminy, 1 run, low full toss and slanting away as JP gets his bat on it to guide it in front of point
19.1
1
Sohail Tanvir to Miller, 1 run, starts off with a slower one which Miller, already rushed into his shot, can only French cut it behind for one

Sohail Tanvir to bowl the final over, and will start round the wicket

And all of a sudden South Africa now need 17 to win off the final over. Can they do it, or will Pakistan hold their nerve?

END OF OVER:

  • Saeed Ajmal4-0-30-1

4
Junaid Khan to Duminy, FOUR, too wide outside off as JP lofts this elegantly through the extra-cover region, and just has enough gas on it to reach the boundary. What an over for South Africa with 19 runs coming off it

Gaurav Manchanda: "SA need Ishant Sharma to win this match."

18.5
2
Junaid Khan to Duminy, 2 runs, another bouncer and this time JP has a go as he pulls this uppishly all the way behind to fine leg
18.4
1
Junaid Khan to Miller, 1 run, fires in a bouncer this time, with Miller looking to pull over midwicket, but instead gets an outside edge which goes into the lights, and falls near mid-on. Afridi was lost there and couldn't get to it as he had trouble sighting the ball
18.3
6
Junaid Khan to Miller, SIX, Miller you beauty! gives himself a little bit of room to hit the flattest of sixes that travels like a bullet to the extra-cover fence. Excellent shot!
18.3
1w
Junaid Khan to Miller, 1 wide, bowls this one wide outside off as Miller tries in vain to reach it. Umpire calls it a wide, much to the dismay of Junaid and keeper Umar Akmal
18.2
1
Junaid Khan to Duminy, 1 run, bowls a wide full toss which JP should have done more with it as he blitzes this straight to sweeper cover
18.1
4
Junaid Khan to Duminy, FOUR, and JP greets him with a lofted four through extra-cover. Too full that one from Junaid

Junaid Khan will bowl the penultimate over. He has only bowled one with 10 runs given

END OF OVER:
18 | 15 Runs | SA: 141/4 (36 runs required from 12 balls, RR: 7.83, RRR: 18.00)

  • Jean-Paul Duminy34 (20b)
  • David Miller7 (7b)
  • Saeed Ajmal4-0-30-1
  • Bilawal Bhatti4-0-19-0

Daniyal: "This is why I like Hafeez as a captain. He shows faith in his bowlers. Had it been Misbah, he wouldn't have tossed the ball to Bhatti, instead he would have tried to get rid of him as early as possible and bowl Ajmal at the death. Leaving Bhatti inexperienced at bowling the crunch overs."

17.6
1
Saeed Ajmal to Duminy, 1 run, Ajmal fires it in once more as JP backs away. However, JP hits this one straight up, but is lucky to find no-mans land as the long-off fielder decides to let it fall just ahead of him to prevent any undue runs
17.5
4
Saeed Ajmal to Duminy, FOUR, JP steps away to create room as he pummels this over the long-on boundary for what appears a six, but the umpires are having a tete-a-tete to confirm that. Great effort from the long-on fielder to dive fully to his right to have a go. Ends up being signalled four by the umpire
17.4
1
Saeed Ajmal to Miller, 1 run, Ajmal follows Miller as he backs away outside leg to try and make room on the off side. This one speared in on leg, leaving Miller no options

Dhinesh: "Just looked at Bilawal's profile. He is just 22 years old but already played 49 first class matches and taken more than 200 wickets. Hope he becomes a bright star at International level."

17.3
1
Saeed Ajmal to Duminy, 1 run, JP then shows off his deftness with a glide to the off side to get off strike
17.2
6
Saeed Ajmal to Duminy, SIX, drags this one down the leg side as JP is on to this like a flash, executing a short-arm pull with enough weight to get over the square boundary
17.1
2
Saeed Ajmal to Duminy, 2 runs, JP drills this full length delivery straight to extra-cover

  • Bilawal Bhatti4-0-19-0
  • Saeed Ajmal3-0-15-1

Omair Ali: "Amla gotta be one of the most stylish players of this era!"
